The best recruiter is not always the best manager!

Perhaps the most common mistake in Agency recruitment. The biggest biller is promoted to lead other recruiters. It can work, but mostly it is a disaster because the skills and competencies required for success are so different!

• The Billing Manager is without a doubt the toughest job in recruitment.
• Most appointments to the Billing Manager role fail, even before they have begun.
• The wrong people are often hired into the Billing Manager job.
• The best recruiter does not necessarily make the best manager!
• They are different jobs that require different mindset, competencies and ethos.
• Everybody loses when the wrong person is appointed the manager. It’s a lose, lose, lose.
• Senior Managers should coach on career direction early on.
• You can have a great career in recruitment that does not involve management.

This is a great vid and I wish could have been at that event. How can I get more information on your speech and this topic, Greg Savage? I ask as we are are a small firm and have just lost one of our top billers due to lack of "progression"...
