Recruitment Agency ‘Job-Fill’ rates rising! Are yours?
Filling a high percentage of the Job-Orders taken is a key driver of Agency profitability, and a strong measure of the quality of the recruitment consulting in the business.
This metric fell in Australia, to Agencies filling four jobs out of ten taken in Quarter 1 2020. Since then, the fill ratio has been climbing. It’s not dramatic, but in Quarter 4 2020 that ratio had risen to 45.5%, so 4.5 jobs filled out of 10 taken, or virtually half.
Thanks to JobAdder for the outstanding data. New Report coming soon
New Zealand fill rates dropped to 37.6% in Quarter 1 2020, bounced back strongly in the next Quarter (49.2%) and by Quarter 4 was very similar to the Australia number, at 46.7%. (OK Kiwis, slightly better than Australia!)
Fill rates in the UK are significantly lower, hovering on average just below three jobs filled out of ten. In some ways this does not surprise me as the UK is supremely competitive, oversaturated with agencies, and also in some regions, very transactional.
Similarly, the US and Canada hover between 2 and 3 jobs filled out of every ten positions taken.
Low job-fill ratios is one of the primary issues facing our industry as it decimates profitability, destroys consultant self-esteem and job satisfaction, and drives down service to clients and candidates.
Learning how to sell exclusivity and triage your jobs would be a good start.
