He gave his staff a 20% salary increase. In a pandemic!

Who gives their entire team a 20% salary increase in a pandemic?

And why would you tell everyone on your team, ‘Hey we will pay you for five days work a week. But please, only work four days”?

Precision Sourcing did this last week.

  • Why would they do that?
  • What is the thinking behind this move?
  • What are the benefits they are anticipating?
  • What are the risks? Have they thought those through?
  • How did the team respond to the stunning announcement?
  • Is the deal only for current staff? What about new hires?

I asked Managing Director Simon Hair all this and more.

His answers, in the 10-minute video below, are illuminating:

It is true that one real benefit of COVID is a chance to reinvent.

To disrupt your own business. To slaughter sacred cows.

To evolve from recruiting paradigms that no longer work.

Once you have seen the video, read the details here.

Simon promises to provide updates as to how this is working over 2021. Connect to him on Linkedin here.

interesting but couple of pieces of info missing to my mind. Company says can work 4 days IF they hit targets. There wasnt any mention of what those targets were. Understand this might be confidential but would help give some context for others to understand if its a reachable target. Also be useful to understand how many of the team are managing to on average only work the 4 days and also how many are working 5+ days.

It`s a time reduction, others have done it & it may be a very smart move. Definitely not a salary increase!

Interesting and I like the idea in principle. Question - how do your clients feel about your team being available only 4/ 5 days a week? Well done for trying something different and being bold... the norm is so boring. Good Luck !! Danielle
