Which is growing fastest? Temp or Perm?
Jobs are coming back for Recruitment Agencies as we saw in the JobAdder data released on Tuesday.
The question I get asked a lot is which will come back first, and fastest? Temp/Contract or Permanent roles?
Once again, I tapped JobAdder, and they have provided brilliant answers to that question.

Not surprisingly, the majority of jobs filled by Agencies across the world right now, are Temp/Contract roles. It makes sense. Employers are tentative, and everyone is afraid to commit.
Australia hovers around 70% of roles filled being Temp/Contract. In fact, over the nine months of the survey period, this has barely wavered at all.
New Zealand is even more Temp/Contract biased. Interestingly in January and February, what we might call ‘Pre-COVID’ months, the percentage of Temp jobs taken vs Perm was 82% and 83% respectively. Since then it has hovered in the late 70%’s.
The UK has the highest percentage of permanent roles taken amongst the four regions measured. (60% Temp/Contract), although the last three months might suggest that the trend is down and perm is increasing.
The US/Canada also has a slightly higher bias towards Permanent, although we can see Temp/Contract increased significantly from April onwards.
