The five biggest mistakes recruitment leaders are making now

It’s a tough time to be a recruitment leader. So many challenges, so much change.

In my work across the globe, meeting and advising Owners and Managers of recruitment businesses, five key themes have emerged.

Don’t make these mistakes as a recruitment leader, and if you work for a company that habitually falls into these traps, think carefully about your future. You are probably on the road to nowhere.

This short video highlights the five biggest mistakes recruitment leaders are making now. It’s a good listen!

  • Not making a decision. Procrastination and inertia. Not self-disrupting.
  • Not investing in crucial technology.
  • Treating social media as a fad, or as trivial.
  • Living with serial mediocrity from consultants and retaining ‘yesterdays heroes‘.
  • Not building a second-tier of competent management to drive growth.

Greg, always wise in your words though I am interested in your views of small niche operators. Do you feel they can survive and if so, where do you feel are their competitive advantages. My view is that it is all about the relationships you have, develop and continue to nurture.

I think you CAN survive as niche operator Daryl. Your key advantage is depth in a specialization and the access to candidates that will bring you.. and your deep understanding of your clients culture and ethos.. but mostly you must be able to find candidates your clients can't and have the skill to bring them to the hiring table

And don't forget you can form great relationships with other good niche players.
