People don’t leave ‘companies’. They leave leaders. (Hint: You)
You don’t get a team of great recruiters, led by a mediocre manager.
The manager sets the pace in all things, and good people will rise to match that pace. However, if that pace is too low or too slow, that’s when it can get very ugly indeed. (90 seconds)
- The team sinks to a pace below the managers level.
- The real ‘guns’ will leave.
- Pace: Not in billings, necessarily, but in effort, in ethics, in service, in attitude, in optimism.
- Don’t justify and cover up your failings when people leave, by blaming them.
- People don’t leave companies; they leave the leadership.
- Look to the environment you have created.
