Great Post, and nice comment by Roger, who is a real leader of changing the way recruitment is done in the UK.

For years we have talked about &#039;consultative selling&#039;, whether for software products or recruitment services.  But it is much more difficult to actually deliver this so called &#039;added value&#039; as it does require a change in attitude for the recruiter and the client.

Those that do, such as Aquent and Roger&#039;s business will lead the pack. The rest will only ever be followers.</description>

It really is a question of leadership, the recruiters demonstrate the behaviour they are led and/or incentivised to do.  If you have to get &quot;x&quot; CVs out a week, regardless of relevance, if you have to only go to client visits when there is definitely a job, if you have to &quot;ad chase&quot; etc. and all the other things that give our industry a rubbish reputation then nothing will change.  The truth is there are only handful of recruitment businesses that can demonstrate value, it&#039;s why the rest are all getting battered on their fees.  The good news is that this recession might be the &quot;jolt&quot; they need but then I&#039;m not hopeful, the lack of innovation in our business is frightening :-(</description>
